Arma 3 – ‘E3 2012 Sneak Preview’ Trailer with vehicle PhysX

A Sneak Preview trailer for Arma 3 has been released by Bohemia Interactive ahead of this weeks E3 2012. We have been excited for Arma 3 since it was announced that Arma 3 Will Implement PhysX for in-game Physics. This new trailer briefly mentions that the vehicles use PhysX simulation for the handling. Hopefully PhysX is used for more than just the vehicles and we see some cool building destruction and more. I will definitely be keeping and eye on Arma 3 this week during E3.

Just before we’re loading up and shipping out to LA, to exhibit our game at E3 2012, here’s a little sneak preview on what to expect!

Batman Arkham City PhysX Comparison Videos

I know that Batman Arkham City has been out for awhile now and this is old news but as I have been extremely busy with work and finishing up school I never got a chance to post these. These are some cool Batman Arkham City PhysX comparison on/off videos from both EVGA and YouTube user penetrator2802 that show off the different PhysX features in the game and what it looks like with PhysX on and PhysX off. We posted before about the Batman Arkham City PhysX Comparison Video from NVIDIA and for more information about how PhysX has been implemented into the game and the different features used, check out the Batman Arkham City: Technical advantages of the PC version – DX11 tessellation and more technical interview with Ben Wyatt, Technical Director at Rocksteady Studios.

BF3 Caspian Border Antenna Can be Destroyed

Ever since we posted the Battlefield 3 Physics and Destruction Videos with the BF3 destruction video showing the Antenna in Caspian Border coming down we have been wondering how to do this or when it would be allowed through a patch. Today we have learned through an awesome YouTube Video that the main Antenna can fall down when the losing team has a certain number of tickets left. Check out the video below. We also posted before showing some videos we made showing off the building destruction and the Hilltop Antenna in Caspian border being destroyed. Now we just have to wait until the future when things like this in games are not scripted but entirely physics based. Hopefully the Back to Karkand expansion has “improved destruction” as promised.

Blockmania Minecraft-like open source project Uses Bullet Physics

We have posted before about some cool Minecraft Physics mods like the Minecraft with jBullet Physics and the concept video showing off Minecraft + Bullet Physics which are really cool. Now Benjamin “begla” Glatzel has started working on a new “Minecraft-like open source project,” that has implemented Bullet Physics for some cool physics effects on the individual blocks. Check out the video below showing it off and be sure to check out the official Blockmania website.

From the Bloackmania website:

Blockmania is an open source project started by Benjamin “begla” Glatzel to research procedural terrain generation and efficient rendering techniques in Java using the LWJGL. The engine uses a block-based voxel-like approach as seen in Minecraft.
