BF3 Caspian Border Antenna Can be Destroyed

Ever since we posted the Battlefield 3 Physics and Destruction Videos with the BF3 destruction video showing the Antenna in Caspian Border coming down we have been wondering how to do this or when it would be allowed through a patch. Today we have learned through an awesome YouTube Video that the main Antenna can fall down when the losing team has a certain number of tickets left. Check out the video below. We also posted before showing some videos we made showing off the building destruction and the Hilltop Antenna in Caspian border being destroyed. Now we just have to wait until the future when things like this in games are not scripted but entirely physics based. Hopefully the Back to Karkand expansion has “improved destruction” as promised.

Blockmania Minecraft-like open source project Uses Bullet Physics

We have posted before about some cool Minecraft Physics mods like the Minecraft with jBullet Physics and the concept video showing off Minecraft + Bullet Physics which are really cool. Now Benjamin “begla” Glatzel has started working on a new “Minecraft-like open source project,” that has implemented Bullet Physics for some cool physics effects on the individual blocks. Check out the video below showing it off and be sure to check out the official Blockmania website.

Blockmania is an open source project started by Benjamin “begla” Glatzel to research procedural terrain generation and efficient rendering techniques in Java using the LWJGL. The engine uses a block-based voxel-like approach as seen in Minecraft.

UDK Tempel Level is Completely Destructible with Apex PhysX

Now this is some impressive work. XPWindman is working on a PhysX and Unreal Development Kit project for his school graduation project using “UDK + Speedtree + APEX physx LAB.” To demonstrate Apex PhysX and destruction he has made a massive floating temple like level in the UDK and every object is a PhysX object that can be destroyed and broken apart. He has uploaded a series of videos to YouTube showing this level off with its impressive Apex destruction. Check it out below and be sure to follow his YouTube page for more videos of this.

Apex PhysX Impact Damage and Destruction Demonstration New Video

Zombiethatatehimself creator of the Awesome Apex PhysX Impact Damage Demonstration and Apex PhysX Impact Damage Demonstration With Stucco/plaster has given me the files required to play and edit these levels in the Unreal Development Kit. My system runs this level a lot faster than his machine so I decided to make a cool video showing it off. I tried to focus on how each individual brick is an actual PhysX object that can be further manipulated after the initial destruction and reacts to every other brick around it. Pretty awesome stuff. Imagine if the buildings in BF3 had this level of detail and physics for the destruction? Check it out below.
