Legit Reviews made a pretty nice video of the new PhysX Rocket Sled demo running on a triple SLI GF100 Fermi setup being showcased at CES2010. Check out the video below. The idea of the demo itself may not be that interesting but what is fascinating about it is that most of the objects in the demo are rendered as PhysX objects. The smoke is also PhysX based and not just as animation and as you can see from the video the PhysX based smoke moves and reacts to it’s surroundings. The video states that the demo was an in-house engineering demo to show off tessellation and DX11 features. Since it was made to show off DX11 and has heavy PhysX implementation NVIDIA probably won’t release it to download even if they do for a few months until the new Fermi video cards are released.
The second video is from golem.de and shows more of the demo all the way until the end, check it out below or here.
Legit Reviews got a chance to look at test system that had not one, but three GF100 Fermi graphics cards running in triple SLI demo. The demo is being narrated by NVIDIA and all looks great until the very end. GF100 is due out in March 2010, so the driver team is still tweaking the software on these graphics cards. NVIDIA also announced that GF100 was in volume production today, so it looks like Fermi will still be out in Q1 2010.
This second video from golem.de is slightly better video quality showing a complete run through of the video all the way to the end, notice as the sled moves past the house it is destroyed.
As promised by NVIDIA they have showed off the new GF100(Fermi) GPU at CES 2010 which is currently underway. The PC Watch website has some really nice pictures and information from the NVIDIA table at CES showing the System that NVIDIA is showing the Fermi GF100 card on and running the new DirectX 11 benchmark Unigine Heaven. TweakTown has also uploaded a really nice video to YouTube showing the System and more information from NVIDIA’s technical marketing director, Nick Stam, be sure to check it out below or the YouTube link here.
More interestingly and what we would be interested in is that PC games Hardware is reporting that NVIDIA is going to be showing off a new PhysX demo on the Fermi system called “Supersonic Sled”. Be sure to keep checking in with GamePhys for more information about this. Hopefully soon we will have some nice videos to post and hopefully NVIDIA will release this demo.
Nvidia confirmed to PC Games Hardware that there will be a special Physx demo, called Supersonic Sled, on display at the CES. The rocket that is shown, isn’t just animated physically correct, but also offers the appropriate smoke – the destructible obstacles are animated correctly, too. The demo supports DirectX 11 and 3D Vision.
I am pleased to announce that GamePhys will soon have a dedicated test and benchmarking system for the site. This was a project I have been meaning to do since I started the site back in 2009 but never got around to it. The first phase of this project really got started this past BlackRead More
On Friday at GDC 2012, Aron Zoellner and Kevin Newkirk of NVIDIA presented a really nice hour long session titled Enhancing Games with APEX PhysX (Clothing, Destruction, Turbulence). In this presentation they went over the features of APEX PhysX Cloth, Destruction, and Turbulence which we have seen implemented in recent games like Mafia II andRead More
We have been hearing rumors for the past year now that AMD GPU’s will be used in the next generation consoles however, aside from reports that the Xbox would use a Fusion variant of Bulldozer, we have not been hearing to much about the actual CPU that may be used. Now SemiAccurate claims that theRead More
Zombiethatatehimself creator of the Awesome Apex PhysX Impact Damage Demonstration and Apex PhysX Impact Damage Demonstration With Stucco/plaster, and the Apex PhysX Voronoi Fracture and Destruction Demonstration has made another cool Apex PhysX demonstration with the Unreal Development Kit. Now this is exciting news, Epic Games has announced in their GDC 2012 press release that they will be showcasing Unreal Engine 4 behind closed doors at GDC 2012. Last year at GDC 2011 we saw the Samaritan demo which was jaw dropping graphics wise but did not showcase much physics, at least destruction wise.Read More
NVIDIA has released new GeForce 295.73 WHQL Drivers which include PhysX 9.12.0209 System Software for improved compatibility and performance in Alice: Madness Returns and Batman: Arkham City. Charlie over at SemiAccurate has posted an interesting rumor that the upcoming NVIDIA Kepler, GK104 GPU will have optimizations for physics calculations in the form of dedicated PhysX hardware described as a “PhysX block.” It is unclear whether these optimizations will be actual dedicated PhysX hardware or just more shaders and other PhysX optimizations butRead More
