Zogrim over at PhysXinfo.com is at it again. His newest video showing off PhysX takes a look at Warmonger – Operation: Downtown Destruction. The video shows all the different PhysX effects that are implemented in Warmonger. Unlike the previous videos Zogrim has made, this one is not a side-by-side comparison video showing what the game looks like with and without PhysX turned on and off. Warmonger was made for and built around PhysX and cannot be disabled.
Warmonger – Operation: Downtown Destruction was Developed by Net Devil in collaboration with Ageia for original PhysX PPU, Warmonger is mediocre multiplayer-oriented FPS, available for free download at GeForce PowerPack #2 or the Warmonger website.
from Warmonger.com:
Warmonger is the first step to realizing a vision. NetDevil believes the next generation of FPS games will usher in new standards both in game play as well as technology that are currently unexplored. For decades the first person shooter has remained basically the same, granted there have been major shifts in style and technology, but basic game play has lacked any profound evolution. Physics technology has come to a point that will change all that, and change it forever. New rigid body technology and procedural destruction of game environments set the stage for dynamic content creation that is truly stunning and will literally change the way people think and play.
Warmonger’s destruction system allows for dynamic gameplay to emerge from the results of combat. Explosives, rockets, and indirect fire can literally blow holes in a map and create new flow. Each map can be played completely differently every time making map “memorization” useless. Rather, a new tactical savvy will be born in the Warmonger player; an adaptive and conscious use of destructive power.
